Health & Safety
Whether you're hiring a marquee for a small gathering or a large-scale event, you can trust that we follow strict health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of your guests and our staff.
Complying with all industry safety regulations
At Marquee Hire City, safety is at the heart of everything we do.
We comply with all industry safety regulations, carrying out thorough risk assessments before, during, and after each installation. Below is an overview of the key safety measures in place when hiring a marquee from us.
Risk Assessments & Safety Measures
We take a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks, covering everything from structural integrity to environmental factors. Our team is highly trained in safe setup, handling, and management to ensure every event runs smoothly.
Marquee Structure – LOW RISK
Only our trained personnel are allowed to erect or alter marquees to prevent improper handling that could compromise stability.
Guy ropes, chains, stakes, and anchorage points are carefully secured to avoid trip hazards.
We ensure that all metal pegs and parts are correctly placed to minimise injury risks.
Lighting & Cabling – LOW RISK
Cables are safely routed to minimise trip hazards.
No one other than our team should interfere with electrical connections to avoid electric shocks.
LPG Cylinders – MEDIUM RISK
LPG is used to fuel heaters and catering equipment.
Only authorised personnel, including our team and approved catering staff, are permitted to handle LPG cylinders.
Cylinders must be correctly stored and secured to avoid explosion risks.
Weather Conditions – MEDIUM RISK
All marquees are secured to withstand worst-case weather conditions.
We monitor forecasts prior to setup to ensure additional anchoring if required.
Emergency Vehicle Access – MEDIUM RISK
Sufficient access is provided for emergency services, depending on the event size and location.
Location & Terrain – MEDIUM RISK
We conduct an initial site assessment to evaluate risks such as flooding, wind exposure, and ground conditions.
Additional anchoring methods are used when necessary.
Flooring – LOW RISK
Flooring is laid evenly to reduce the chance of trips or falls.
We ensure carpet and matting are properly secured during installation, though movement may occur throughout the event.
Heating – MEDIUM RISK
Heaters must not be moved or tampered with once installed.
There is a risk of burns when in use – all users must be aware of safe handling.
Electric heaters pose a fire risk if improperly used.
Access & Exits – LOW RISK
All marquee exits are clearly marked and kept free from obstruction.
For events with 50+ guests, there must be a minimum of two exits.
Flammable Materials – LOW RISK
All marquee linings, flooring, and furniture are flame-retardant.
Fire extinguishers (Foam & CO₂) are placed within each structure.
Care must be taken to prevent misuse of any flammable items.
Vehicle Movement & Walkways – MEDIUM RISK
Vehicle areas are designated and cordoned off to reduce collision risks.
Walkways are clearly identified to keep pedestrian areas safe.
Power & Lighting Failure – LOW RISK
We provide emergency backup solutions in case of power failure.
If generators are in use, fuel safety guidelines must be followed.
Furniture – LOW RISK
Loose furniture can create trip hazards and must be arranged carefully.
Escape routes must always remain clear.
Additional Safety Considerations
Working with Heavy Equipment
When dismantling or adjusting marquees, there is often heavy steel overhead. Only trained personnel should remove parts to avoid compromising structural stability.
Manual Handling & Lifting
Some equipment is heavier than expected – proper lifting techniques must be used.
Bending the knees and avoiding twisting is essential to prevent injury.
Working with Untrained Individuals
Customers or event staff who are unfamiliar with our setup process can unintentionally create safety hazards.
Our team always provides clear guidance on what should and shouldn’t be moved.
Loading & Transport
When loading trucks, all equipment must be secured before transport.
Dangerous goods, such as LPG, must be transported according to regulations, including:
Securing upright on an open-deck vehicle.
Following transport declarations for volumes exceeding 100 litres.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an accident, first aid will be administered, and incidents will be recorded.
Serious incidents will be reported to the relevant authorities.
If an emergency occurs, follow our safety instructions and evacuation procedures.
At Marquee Hire City, your safety is our priority. Our strict health and safety procedures ensure that your event runs smoothly while minimising risk. If you have any questions or require further guidance, please get in touch with our team.
